Luni, the old Lunae which as its symbol half of our satellite, was near the mouth of the Magra river and was a flowering city and the port of what is today called Lunigiana. Such was its grandeur with amphitheaters, forums, and palaces that when, during the various periods that the Vandals, the Saracens, and the Normans arrived and sacked it, they though they had arrived in Rome.
