The name Liguria is strictly administrative, contemporary with the reunion with Piemonte after the Congress of Vienna in 1815. The adjective ligure is instead strictly political and tied to the adjective democratico that the French wanted to impose in 1797 on the "puppet" state of the Ligurian Republic. There is no Ligurian dialect and it's not possible to talk of a common Ligurian spirit because there exist many "Ligurias".
