Filippo Buonarroti

Filippo Buonarroti, one of the last descendants of the great Michelangelo, was a Robesperrian revolutionary  at the time of the revolution and a Mazzinian after. He attemped an invasion of Italy depating from Piemonte. He was stopped however in the far eastern part of Liguria by the French at the time of Luigi Filippo. In 1796 he founded and directed an elementary school in Onegli on the French model: learning obligatory for everyone, texts were free.
