RUSSIA AND CHINA

Russian Gazprom once symbolyzed claim to be an energy superpower, but is now losing its hold on European markets, after misreading the US shale boom. Gazprom is stagnating company, now, and may be struggling in Europe, but on the other side of the world its prospects are much brighter. Eastern programme offer hope. After years of talks, it is close to a gas supply deal with China. China, in fact, is an atrcttive market for Russia.
