Ibn Rushd (Averroes) was an Islamic philosopher, logician, mathematician, astronomer, master in psychology and theology. Ibn Rush (Averroes) was born in Cordoba (Islamic Spain) in 1126 and died in Marrakech in 1198. He was tutored by Ibn Bajjah (Avempace in the Latin West), a philosopher known for his ideas about phenomenology and Islamic gnosis. Averroes, however, took a more rational direction. Dante in LA DIVINA COMMEDIA and in his works attested Averroes' relevance to philosophy.
