China and Africa.

China had given a economic support since the 1950s. The failure of the training programmes in Africa (1980s) had led to more African students being educated in China. But this only served to publicize how deep-seated the racist feelings, were among the Chinese general public. Traditionally, tne Chinese viewd black peoples as stupid and uncivilized. Finally, Chinese technicians were sent back to Africa to learn from the Africans, and to work with them on their common development problems. Sometimes, to begin with, the Chinese leaders failed to understand certain African sensibilities. But they went home, assessed their mistakes and returned with new policies better attuned the continent's aspirations and needs. China is today a new superpower in Africa.
