In the history of Indian ancient political thought, the Kautilyan polity represents the most developed, though not the most typical, State, envisaged by the authors of the technical science of polity. It is therefore worth our while to consider her in the first place the domination tendencies and characteristics of his type of polity from the standpoint of its ultimate end. We have seen, to begin with, how Kautilya, while repeating the Arthasastra concept of the seven consituents of the State, conceives the King in effect to be the keystone of the political arch. The King's coercive authority is like wise held by author within proper limits to be the subjects. Kautilya further lays down a complete and integrate scheme of the King's education, while he discusses with his usual superior political objectives of the Kautilyan State are equally characteristic of the author's aiitude.
