CORAL REEFS (IN LIGURIA)

In his east (Santa Margherita, San Giacomo di Corte, Rapallo) and also in the west (Cervo, Laigueglia) coral fishing was always active. Fishermen went with their "ingegno", an instrument used toi scrape the coral of the underwater rocks. At first thy worked along the Ligurian coast then, having exhausted the beds there, they expanded out to the mediterranean coast and to North Africa (Tabarka in TTunisia) to gather the precious coral.
