Lucian of Samosata (125-180)

Syrian rethorician, and satirist who wrote in Greek language. He is noted for his witty and scoffing nature. Lucian almost certainly do not write all than eighty works attributed to him. His name added luster to any entertaining and sarcastic essay. lucian was also one of the first novelist in western civilization. In "A True Story", a fictional narrative work written in prose, he parodied some fantastic tales told by Homer and in the Odissey and some feeble fantasies voyages to the Moon and Venus, extraterrestrial life centuries before J.Verne and H.G.Wells. His novel is widely regarded as an early, if not the earliest fiction work. Lucian tells also his readers about the Seres (Chinese) which live 300 years.
